GSMBA has awoken
Well it does seem that the County has been in a deep sleep for the past fifteen months. We did have a sort of AGM last year (2020) when we voted in a new Competitions Secretary (Paul Murphy) and a new Premier Team Captain (Ollie Hipkiss). In June this year the Chaiman, Secretary and A Team Captain stood down prompting a co-option process to find replacements. Two of those three positions have now been filled uncontested by Andy Todd as Secretary and Chris Evans as A Team Captain. The Chairman's position was contested between Ryan Knight and David Bubb and on the 13th July the Chairman's position was filled by David Bubb.
Gwen Wheeler With sadness I reported the passing of Gwen, she passed away on 9 August after an extremely brave fight against cancer. Gwen's funeral took place on 26th August at St John the Baptist Church, France Lynch. Tony is sorry that he could not invite more of you due to the limitations placed on us by the COVID 19 restrictions. Tony thanks all those who were able to attend and also thanks to everyone who gave donations which amounted to £750 to Cancer Research UK. Gwen was a popular and respected short mat player and was Treasurer of the GSMBA for over 18 years. She will be sadly missed. Re-arranged AGM
Due to the COVID 19 situation this years AGM will be by proxy as agreed by 13 out of the 20 registered clubs. (3 against, 4 non-reply) The proxy AGM of the Gloucestershire SMBA will be held on Friday 4th September 2020. The annual presentation will be limited to announcing the prize winners and trophies will be engraved as usual and independently delivered to the recipients when possible. All data including written officer reports, proposals, nominations and questions from the clubs will be delivered to all club secretaries by 7th August 2020 together with the formal agenda. Accompanying the agenda will be a voting sheet with room for each club to enter two votes for each agenda item requiring it. Questions relating to the proposals may be submitted up to two weeks prior to the AGM date leaving time for replies. The voting sheets, duly signed off by a club officer, should be returned to the County Secretary by no later than 7th September to be counted. (Email returns please) The voting sheet will include a section for comments etc if the club wish to make them. The AGM will be deemed complete after the 7th September and when any questions posed have been answered. The minutes will be raised as soon after the meeting date as possible, a summary of voting etc will be published within a week of the AGM completion. County Pairs 2019

Another win for Gloucestershire
Well done to Gloster Knights who, after a hard fought battle with Woolhope, have won this years LEH competition by 17 shots.
Thank you to everyone who played this past season in the county A team. I know that everyone who played enjoyed doing so and I appreciate the part played by people who came in at the last minute because of someone being ill and so there was always a full team on the day. We did not win them all but getting to the semi-final of the plate knockout and only losing by 22 points to 18 against Dorset was very good. The most frustrating result of the whole season was losing to Hereford by a single shot on the very last end and very last bowl of our final match to put them a single point above us in the ICC league table. Thank you all again, you did me and the county proud. David Bubb County 4's and Mixed 4's Championships/National Qualifiers 26/27 January
