The website is updated as regularly as possible with results of County Competitions, Inter County matches and other news when provided.

GSMBA are the recognised organising body for the sport of Short Mat Bowls in the county of Gloucestershire, with an affiliation to the English Short Mat Bowls Association (ESMBA).

This website has recently been revamped and has been created to provide information on the Association – it’s Committee, Affiliated Clubs, League Matches/Tables, the Rules of the Game, Events, News as well as links to other sites of interest to Short Mat Bowlers.

Short Mat Bowls has been played in Gloucestershire since the early 1990’s and is a game which can be played by all ages and abilities. Games played are singles, pairs, triples and fours with the object being to outscore your opponents by getting your bowls (woods) closest to the jack. Gloucestershire Clubs are always pleased to greet new members – look for your local club in the Clubs Directory and get involved!

In this County, the game has two seasons, Winter League is generally played from September through to April, inside on portable mats, so is not reliant on the Weather, April to September is time for the Summer League.

Our Inter-County home games are played at Churchdown Community Centre, Parton Road, Churchdown, GL3 2JH.

A major part of the site relates to our leagues giving fixtures and results/tables and the related rules, forms and results returns are also available on the League+ page. County competitions, fixtures and honours are also shown on the DiaryCounty and About Us pages.

Please use the Feedback page to pass on any suggestions or problems you have to the site administrator. All such communications will be considered seriously and are much appreciated. There’s even a page where members can advertise bowls items that are Wanted (or not!).

Hopefully you find the site easy to use and informative
