Welcome to the official website for the Gloucestershire Short Mat Bowling Association

This website has been created to provide information on the Association - it's Committee, Affiliated Clubs, League Matches / Tables, the Rules of the game, Events, News as well as links to other sites of interest to Short Mat Bowlers. There's even a page where members can advertise bowls items that are Wanted (or not!).

The site has been developed to make maximum use of the latest technologies, especially in the location of the clubs and other venues. For example, the address of the usual home venue for Inter-County matches is Churchdown Community Centre, Parton Road, Churchdown, GL3 2JH. The postcode is a link to another website that will show the location of the building on a detailed OS Map. This is fairly normal these days but please note that the arrow has been moved to point to the correct building rather than the general area normally associated with a postcode (which can cover up to 17 properties).

In addition, this site includes links to Google Maps which will open up a map with the location of a building indicated by a "pin" (actually a green man bowling!). The background map can be supplemented by satellite imagery or click on the pin and the resultant pop-up box will allow you to see the street view of the building - simply click "more" followed by "Street View". Use the mouse or keyboard left and right arrows to rotate the view around the viewpoint and the up and down arrows to move along the road. Click here to see if it works for the Churchdown Community Centre.

The Clubs page also links to Google Maps and shows a set of pins indicating the location of all the affiliated clubs in the county - a very  useful function.

The League Secretary will keep the League Fixtures up to date when notified of any changes and will publish the match results as soon as possible.

The link to Weather will allow you to see the 5 day or 24 hour weather forecasts or the rainfall pattern over the region during the last two hours - useful when about to travel (or start an outdoor activity).

Please use the Feedback page to pass on any suggestions or problems you have to the site administrator. All such communications will be considered seriously and are much appreciated. If you do encounter a problem then please view Known problems to see if a work around has already been found.

Hopefully you find the site easy to use and informative
